It’s not often we get called out to a boat, but we were definitely floating when we attended a recent call out for Pipeweld International at the Sunborn Hotel.

Moored at the Royal Victoria Dock, London, Sunborn is the UK’s only floating super-yacht luxury hotel. At 142m long, it contains 189 lavishly appointed rooms together with banqueting suites, bars and restaurants.

All this luxury would have counted for little when the main sewage outlet kept blocking. 

Pipeweld were called in to carry out urgent alterations to the waste-water pipework. They then relied on IPS to freeze the 100mm (4”) main sewage pipe to enable new pipework to be put in place.

The freeze was held in place for 2-3 hours, allowing the sewage to then flow freely, to everyone’s relief.
