With preparation work for the new Cambridge Children’s Hospital underway, IPS were called out by main contractor Bouygues UK.

Plans had shown a large 600mm pipe crossing the site, but it was not known whether the pipe was still live or had been decommissioned.

IPS were called in to carry out clamped hot tapping of the 600mm nominal bore cast iron water main. Once the hot tap had been completed, we could confirm that there was no live flow and work could safely continue to remove the pipework.
