Reading International Business Park, next to junction 11 of the M4, is currently undergoing major renovations in order to attract new tenants.

Part of the work is to create a new access route to the ground floor car parks. However, the water main pipework was standing in the way.

IPS were called in to carry out 2 x 200mm freezes to the chilled water mains. This was our third visit, as previous works were to carry out flow tests to establish the integrity and flow of existing valves, followed by hot tapping to install 25mm valves to the mains to enable draining.

The 200mm freezes were held for three hours and required a tanker on standby for liquid nitrogen. Once the freeze was in place, new valves and blanks were installed, enabling the re-routed pipework to be re-connected.
