IPS Pipefreezing were recently called to Horsham in deepest Sussex by renewable energy heating company Polar Planet.
Polar Planet were installing a new CHP energy system to provide energy efficient heat and power to the council buildings.
The former Royal and Sun Alliance building insurance building in central Horsham was built in 1994 and taken over by the council in 2008. At that stage little refurbishment was needed but 12 years later the council has instigated a major programme of improvements.
IPS were contacted to provide hot tapping as the existing flanges were sealed with asbestos gaskets.
After pressure testing, IPS carried out a hot tap to a 150mm Gas Main located in the car park, supplying and welding into position an 80mm flanged short. Polar Planet then did a further pressure test to ensure all work was sound, enabling IPS to continue with under pressure drilling to achieve a live and blanked connection. We also carried out 2 x 50mm LTHW hot taps within the boiler room.
Our contact at Polar Planet commented,
“This was my first experience of working with IPS. The work was carried out competently and the end result was excellent. I would be happy to use them again.”
“I would definitely use IPS again. The whole process from initial enquiry to finished job was seamless. IPS were flexible and accommodating, even though we changed dates. Communications throughout were excellent. Once on-site the technicians were brilliant. Clean, tidy and professional. It was a joy to find a contractor so easy to work with.”JLA Group
