We responded to an emergency call-out from Gloster MEP. The location was a residential development at Wembley.
A non-related power cut had temporarily interrupted the boosted cold-water flow servicing one of the apartment blocks. Problems started when the power was restored, with the surge fracturing numerous joints to the 6” (159mm) copper main.
This resulted in multiple leaks across the building particularly in the underground car park, reception and common areas.
In total, we attended over 11 nights with 3 technicians in attendance, to carry out multiple freezes. Our work was phased to allow the client’s team to braze the joints in sequence, avoiding the need to drain down the whole system.
Pictured – multiple wheelie bins used to catch the water!
