Ultrasonic Flow Measurement

Initially developed and incorporated into our pipefreezing and linestopping service operations, we now offer non-invasive ultrasonic flow measurement and wall thickness testing as a stand-alone service.

The advantages of ultrasonic flow measurement is that the process is again non-invasive. The sensors are attached to the wall of the pipe and accurate flow readings can be achieved without the requirement for metering stations.

Hot Tapping & Linestopping

Hot Tapping (under pressure drilling) enables new branch connections to be made to existing pipework systems without the need to shut down. There is no disruption to critical processes whilst branches are installed.

Hot tapping is a direct alternative to pipefreezing. IPS engineers are able to evaluate your pipework requirements and advise on the most appropriate method to use.

Having made a potential branch connection onto the main either by welding or the use of a mechanical tee, a valve is fitted and the live connection made by means of a specialist drilling machine.

This technique can be used on most pipe materials. IPS can carry out drillings from 6mm to 1800mm. Solutions can be engineered to cope with most temperatures and pressures.

Linestopping can offer a solution where isolation of a pipework system is required but the flow cannot be stopped.

Having carried out a hot tap, the drilling machine is exchanged for a line stop machine, which enables the pipe to be mechanically ‘blocked’.

Single or double line stops can be achieved and a bypass can be incorporated to maintain flow through the system whilst work, e.g. a repair, is carried out.

Pipefreezing

IPS has vast experience in providing non-invasive pipework isolations that allow capital or maintenance work to be completed without the need to drain systems, refill and revent or indeed store liquids.

Pipe freezing offers the most cost effective way to achieve valve replacement and general pipework modifications.

Pipefreezing eliminates the time and cost of drain downs, chemical waste removal and refilling. New pipework can be pressure tested in situ, saving further delays and expense.

Any building or plant with pipework containing a wide range of liquids will potentially require maintenance. The pipefreezing method can be used on the majority of pipework materials. Pipefreezing jackets up to 600mm form part of our standard equipment range and other sizes can be manufactured as required in our workshop.

Established in 1983 by a group of technicians with many years experience in the pipefreezing industry, IPS was set up to offer professional industrial pipefreezing services.

Over the last 25 years we have developed new services as a result of our recognition as a company resolved to assist customers. Our aim is to offer you a comprehensive service and complete value for money.

We have experience in working across all industry sectors, from the building services sector through to the utility and petrochemical industries.
