As part of long-standing energy efficiency improvements, Warwick University have installed a district heating scheme incorporating CHP to replace individual grid supplies and separate boilers across their 290 hectare campus.

IPS were appointed by mechanical contractors Imtech Meica to make the final connection between the new hot water generation plant and the existing ring main system.

We utilised a hot tapping method to provide new connections into both 150mm flow and return pipes, firstly welding in place full encirclement collars with flanged nozzles. Once the new valves were installed, we pressure tested the new connections to make sure that the connections were sound and completed the drilling operations.

Our work was completed on site in under two days, without interruption to the hot water flow or disturbance to the students or research programmes taking place.
